The Argentina's North West encompasses the southern Central Andes and the western Chaco flatlands, having a wide altitudinal range (from the 300 to over 6.000 metres above sea level), with a very complex geography, all features that favored the presence of a great variety of landscapes, climates and thus ecological regions, such as the Dry Chaco woodlands, the Yungas cloudforests, the Monte scrublands, the Puna steppes, and the High Andes desert. More than half the birds species of Argentina are present in this small but amazing part of the country.
